Topic: Responsibility of children and parent  in the upbringing of their children

FIRST QUESTION: who is responsible for the moral and spiritual upbringing of a child

Answers

Rev. Sele: He said the parent are responsible for the upbringing of a child, children learn by observation giving an example of a research where a man was kept in a room with a child and a dull, the man pick the dull and hit it on the ground so hard and left. the child also repeat the same thing. The man was also kept in another room with a different child and a dull, he treated the dull with care and left. the boy also take care of the dull. this is an example of how children learnt from observation

Elder Elizabeth: She said the parent are responsible especially the mother because most of the time the child is left with the mother and there is a strong connection between the mother and the child since from child birth to breast feeding.

QUESTION TWO (2): why is it hard to stop a child from following friends they are told not to move with

Answers

Charity Izang: She said mothers are not open with their children that is why children find it easy to speak with their friends outside

Ajiji Atang: He started with psalm 11:15, if the foundation is weak what can the righteous do, what becomes of a child if his foundation is not strong, so this children are at the mercy of the society because they are not taught at home.

Elder Elizabeth: Children don't want to be free with their parent, children push their parent away especially when they don't understand somethings, they don't ask their parent instead go ahead to ask thier friends

QUESTION THREE (3): what age do parent need to orient their female child

Answers

Elder Elizabeth: we feel ashamed of sex education, sex education is level by level, as parent we should avoid shame and educate our children on sex education from when they are small to maturity.

Charity: the society is turning something else, the children are having tablet or phones, if we don't each them they will learn them outside. 

QUESTION FOUR (4): Who takes initiatives to make a child open to his parent?

Rev Sele: we need to understand that children are different, everyone with his attitude, some are open while some are reserved. parent should initiate the friendship between them and their children but sometimes parent are busy with business and work so no time to start the friendship with children. it is very important to show your children that you trust them. a parent should be tolerant and have listening ears to their children.

QUESTION FIVE (5): Some children grew up knowing that their parents don't go to church but still manage to engage in church activities what should a child do in that situation

Answers

Ajiji Atang: if you find yourself in that kind of situation, you should be an agent of change by winning your parents to Christ

Charity Izang: praying for your parent is very important if not they might even stop you from going to church

QUESTION SIX (6): Is taking your child to boarding school to learn morals laziness

Answers

Elder Elizabeth: She said is laziness 

QUESTION SEVEN (7): Do you think parent know the kind of friends their children keep with fraud, yahoo, and social vices and what are the implication

Answers

Rev Sele: Some parents are the ones sending their children into prostitution, it is a shame. sometimes parents don't ask their children children where they get money from which is wrong.

Charity Izang: I have seen Christian girls married to Muslim boys, some parents will see her daughter drop in front of the house and will not ask questions.

QUESTION EIGHT (8): At what age should beating be stop

Answers

Rev Sele: Talking about discipline, africa has it own way of discipline, an african will beat a child at any level. but at the age of 16 parents should be caution of beating.

Elder Elizabeth: If you have no child or children for instance, you also have the responsibilities to caution other children and show them the way.

QUESTION NINE (9): I, as a parent have never taken alcohol but my son on the other hand does that. what should i do?

Answers

Charity Izang: The son's peer group contribute a lot to that, at the end, it all balls down to the mindset of that child. so its obviously has to do with friends

QUESTION TEN (10): Is it alright to make friends outside other than our parents?

Answers:

Yes of course, it is much ok to make friends outside of the home. But such friends should be morally sound in other to teach and set good examples to that child.

QUESTION ELEVEN (11): Some parents dont listen to their children, how can that be solved?

Answer

There should be cordial relationship between parents and children

QUESTION TWELVE (12): At what age should a girl have a boyfriend?

Answers

Define the purpose of that relationship before starting the relationship
