TEXT: Mathew 16:18, Ecclesiastes 4:12.
SPEAKER: Rev. Okpanachi Ebiloma
The program commenced at about 4:06pm with a welcome address by the conductor, Mr. Raymond Monde. The Opening Prayer was said by Pst. Ponman Bako followed by Hymn Song SS&S 606 (O Jesus I have Promise).
The service continued with song ministrations from the sub-groups of the church, they are; first from Church Band, and then mazan zumunta.
The Church band were invited to sing a chorus to prepare the hearts of the congregation as they receive what God has for them in His word and in welcoming the preacher for the message.
The preacher for today's program is the same invited guest speaker Rev. Okpanachi Ebiloma. He continued in the same line with the church band as he leads 'I surrender all' song and others and also a prayer.
The word was read from the book of Mathew 16:18, Ecclesiastes 4:12.
The topic was 'Unity and possibilities for the church'.
He gave a recap of what was learnt from the first day, Unity and Possibility on the side of the youth. But the focus this evening is on the church in general. As a church in it's entirety, whether we belong or not to a group in the church, is Unity Possible?
If the fellowship or church is build on Jesus, there's nothing the gates of hell will do to prevail against it. The speaker quoted the Isaac Newton's law of motion to describe his point. The church of Christ was set to accomplish God's purpose, Nothing will stop it from enjoying what God has prepared. He further asked a question if the church is progressing or not, why are some Christians no longer the head but rather the tail? Just as in God's promise. If we divide ourselves, there will not be victory or success.
What way should believers follow, if they want to be successful or victorious? (Deut. 28:31, 28:13).
1. We must take away selfishness, only then will God help us to be the head and not the tail.
2. We must take away tribalism.
3. We must do away with Denominationalism
Let's join our hands together (1 Cor 3:1-23, Mathew 12:25). The problem or challenge is not from outside but the church itself attaching each other (from inside). We are shooting ourselves on our foots. Any house or church or group that does not join hands together, will definitely not succeed. (Joshua 7:1-26), sometimes we think the problem of someone, or a household cannot affect us but the sin of a single person can affect the whole house or country.
Is there a way out when selfishness, tribalism and denominationalism is found amongst us?
Yes, one way is through Prayers (Act 12:1-11). If the church of Christ will unite herself through prayers and fasting, many great things will happen, and our problems will be taken away, (Jonah 3). (Ephesians 4:3), there's an effort required if we want to achieve unity in the church. If we don't go or work with the authority given to us by God, we can't achieve success or unity.
The message came to a close with an altar call (prayer of accepting Jesus), led by Pst. Ponman.
